Dawn Allee Material Culture Track at the Tournament of Defense

Dawn Allee

Dawn Allee was sewing clothes for her dolls when she was 3. She discovered historical clothing by making Folklore patterns for a production of Showboat in high school.  She left a career in finance to become a costume designer and historical clothing maker. She now has a more creative “real job” that allows her to pursue historical hobbies in her “copious amounts of spare time.” In addition to 15th and 16th century clothing, those hobbies include administration and box office for The Baron’s Men, a (primarily) Shakespearian theatre group and being Lady of Honour at Lysts on the Lake jousting tournaments. Her unfulfilled dream is to make 18th century clothing and have a reason to wear it.
