Silvia Tomasetti

Silvia started her career in Western Martial Arts in 2011. A former Judo athlete from the Italian State Police ("Fiamme Oro"), she won a Championship in her category; after some year, it was consequent for her to embrace the West side of combat sports, unarmed and armed. Her journey within Hema started with a love for the Fiore unarmed techniques (of course!), evolving then in love for Longsword and Rapier. She's interested both in the martial part and in the competitive scene, for which she won 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 13 Bronze medals and fought for the 2nd European Games (2019).

After some time, she developed an interest in teaching: by that, she studied fencing and Hema under the tutelage of M° Francesco Lodà and graduated as an Instructor (2017); her main teaching interest is focused on young adults (12-16 y.o), even if she teachs in Accademia Romana d'Armi (ARA) to children and adults too.

A designer with many experiences in the field of architecture and management, she soon started to work with ARA; in 2018 she became Managing Partner, is one of the main organisers of AIMA ROMA, and in 2019 she's been appointed as the international coordinator for HEMAKIDS project.

Up today, she presented HemaKids, ARA's sport-educational project for the youngstairs (6-17 y.o.), in USA, Europe, RUS (where it has a large follow).

She's involved in historical research too, focusing mainly on XVIIth Century' fencing in Rome.

Silvia works also as Councilor of Roma municipality XII, and act as Chairwoman of Equal Opportunity Commission; deputy president of "Donne e Società" and a member of Italy's Women Union (UDI), she works for equal genders opportunities and education.
